That which participates is represented by the body.  Blind participation limits the potential of the body and makes no use of the mind.
That which observes is found in the mind.  A mind can never truly be free if the body is caged.
The union of the body and the mind brings about an equilibrium of participation and observation.  Both are liberated, and each acts as a catalyst to broaden the freedom of the other.
